Intermodal Double-Digit Gains Continue

Four of the 10 carload commodity groups posted an increase compared with the same week in 2020. They included grain, up 9,386 carloads, to 27,650; metallic ores and metals, up 2,524 carloads, to 23,600; and chemicals, up 2,458 carloads, to 36,195.

$1B USMCA Logistics Complex Planned for Mexico

Officials in Mexico unveiled plans Tuesday for a multimodal logistics center aimed at boosting international trade as part of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement. The project will include an investment of $1.2 billion and could generate more than 65,000 jobs in Nextlalpan, a town about 25 miles north of Mexico City, said Alfredo Del Mazo Maza, the governor of the state of Mexico.

Omar Alghabra has been named Canada's new transport minister to succeed Marc Garneau, who is now foreign affairs minister. Wood Pellet Exports Top 660,000 Metric Tons in November

The U.S. exported 660,312.5 metric tons of wood pellets in November, up from 624,212.9 metric tons in October, but down from 777,976.5 metric tons in November 2019, according to data released by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service on Jan. 7. The U.S. exported wood pellets to nearly 20 countries in November.
