With PTC implementation due for completion Dec. 31, FRA has identified two existing provisions, 49 CFR 236.1021 and 236.1029(h), which, if not revised, “could impede the industry’s ability to advance PTC technology efficiently” in the future and “FRA’s ability to oversee the performance and reliability of PTC systems effectively.” The agency seeks to modify how the host railroad submits a request for amendment to FRA before making certain changes to its PTC Safety Plan and FRA-certified PTC system. |

The European Investment Bank and CD Cargo signed a CZK 3.43 billion (EUR 130.4 million) financial agreement to support the acquisition of new electric locomotive fleet and replacement of obsolete rolling stock. The project consists of the acquisition of 50 electric locomotives and 140 freight intermodal wagons as well as retrofit of around 310 older locomotives with European Railway Traffic Management System. |
The contract, awarded to China Railway 11 Bureau Group and China Railway 23 Bureau Group, covers the construction of railway subgrade, bridges and stations on a 39.8km section of line. CRCC will provide expertise and supervision for the project, while the Thai government will provide equipment and materials. |
