Borderlands: Mexican Rail Blockade Costing Millions; Toyota, VW Expanding in Mexico

Mexican farmers protesting water rights have blocked railway tracks across the country since Aug. 26, costing Mexico's economy millions in delayed freight, according to trade officials. The dispute between farmers and the administration of Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador began in August with blockades of highways and railroad tracks in the Mexican states of Sonora and Chihuahua.
 

Weekly US Rail Traffic Falls on Holiday Comps

Weekly U.S. rail traffic slipped nearly 10% in a week that was shorter than usual because of Labor Day. U.S. rail volumes for the week ending Saturday totaled 474,785 carloads and intermodal units, a 9.9% drop compared with the same period in 2019, according to the Association of American Railroads. Labor Day was Sept. 7.

CN Handles Cargo Arriving on CMA CGM Brazil at Halifax Port

Designed to transport a wide range of grain and grain mill products, the wagons have 25 tonne axleload bogies and a capacity of 120 m³ or 76 tonnes, up to 6 tonnes more than older designs.
