CAI International Reports Container Lease Revenue Increase

CAI International Inc. (NYSE: CAI), a leading container-leasing and logistics company, said it had modest year-over-year growth in revenue from continuing operations in the third quarter but that it had a net loss because of its decision to seek a buyer for its railcar fleet.
 

BNSF's Third-Quarter Net Earnings Grow

Despite lower revenues, western U.S. railroad BNSF posted a net profit in the third quarter amid lower operating costs, BNSF said in a financial report Nov. 4. BNSF had a net profit of $1.47 billion, a 5.2% increase from net earnings of $1.39 billion in the third quarter of 2018.
 

Alberta to Ease Production Limits on Oil if it's Shipped by Rail

The Canadian province of Alberta will ease oil production limits on energy companies if they move the additional oil on trains, provincial government officials announced yesterday. The announcement was made after industry representatives proposed shipping more crude by rail in exchange for curtailment relief.
 

Imperial Oil CEO Offers Faint Praise for Alberta Curtailment Cuts for Rail Plan

Alberta is going in the "right direction" with its plan to ease production curtailments for oil producers who add crude-by-rail capacity, the CEO of Imperial Oil Ltd. said Friday, although he didn't commit to transport more oil by rail.
